Calligraphy Classes & Manuscript Study Trips
Located in the quintessential coastal New England town of Hingham, Massachusetts, The Abbey Studio offers a comfortable, well-equipped studio classroom in an environment conducive to weekday study or a weekend getaway. Hingham is located 18 miles south of Boston and can be reached by Greenbush commuter rail from South Station (schedule at mbta.com), commuter boat (from Rowes Wharf), or car. Some of our workshops are scheduled during weekend mornings, allowing visitors to Boston the opportunity to participate in a class while permitting time to enjoy the historic sights of Boston and/or touring the coastal towns of Hingham, Cohasset, Plymouth, Hull, and Scituate. Please let us know if you are interested in accommodations at a nearby Bed & Breakfast Inn or oceanfront hotel, or if you need information about airport travel to and from Boston’s Logan International Airport or Providence’s T. We are pleased to announce a new book by artist/instructor Maryanne Grebenstein, called Calligraphy: A Course in Hand Lettering (published by Watson-Guptill) is available.
